Operators – Alistair Hope, Shell U.K Exploration & Production – Project Director I am passionate that decommissioning represents a chance for us to do things in a radically different way in order to achieve safe, responsible and cost efficient outcomes. If we continue to use traditional approaches, traditional tools and traditional contracting we will end up with traditional costs! I am keen to work with other operators, the supply chain, regulators and stakeholders to bring change and to create a world class capability in the UK than can be exported.
Currently Project Director of the Brent Decommissioning project, one of the largest, most complex and challenging decommissioning projects in the North Sea. Responsible for the safe, environmentally responsible and efficient delivery of the project (including wells and operations aspects). The project has championed the use of technology and innovation e.g. use of Single lift technology, cell access technology, development of the UK supply chain.
Have previously been involved in the Inde Decommissioning Project in SNS in 2007- 10 (6 shallow water jackets) and the Brent Flare Tower removal (2003).
24years professional experience in Project Management as well as Operations and Maintenance, new business development and HSE roles. Part of Shell’s Global Decommissioning Team and am familiar with the other basins where decommissioning is becoming important having worked in global project roles.
Good network across other operators and supply chain. Regular presenter at decommissioning workshops/conferences (e.g. SPE event in Norway). I have some positive experience working with DNS already (e.g. briefings to MSPs in Aberdeen & Edinburgh)
