N-ERGISE was awarded Principal Contractor role under full CDM 2015 regulations. The objective was to safely decommissioning x2 offshore platforms to which one provided cooling water to Sizewell A nuclear station. There were many constraints and challenges including the platforms being used as nesting sites for Kittiwakes. Being protected species work could only be carried out on the platforms when the birds had migrated for the season.
All vessels on the project were sourced and managed by N-ERGISE, these included an HLV (Heavy Lift Vessel), Tug, Diving support vessel and CTV (Crew Transfer Vessel). Logistical planning was crucial, tides and the shallow sea depths created further challenges. As well as the work being executed during the winter period.
N-ERGISE is pleased to advise despite the constraints and challenges the project was successfully completed in Q1 2018 with zero accidents & incidents, 3 months ahead of schedule and considerably under the client’s budget. Detailed and accurate planning proved vital in achieving the schedule advance. Great credit to all involved for maximising the windows of opportunity during the execution.
Activities included Project Management, Engineering, Vessel Management, Rigging, Welding, Cutting, Diving, Hazardous Waste Removal.
